Connection is critical to all of our mental health and happiness. Being part of a dynamic and inclusive network is why our members join the Sunshine Coast Business Women's Network. Together we are stronger, wiser and more empowered to take the world by storm (or somedays, simply survive). Hence the introduction of Wind Down with SCBWN!
Each fortnight throughout COVID-19 one of our Executive Members will host a casual Friday afternoon catchup. So grab your beverage of choice, some nibbles, a comfy couch and kick back with Community Engagement Chair, Kaitlyn Akers!
Kaitlyn is the General Manager for Operations with Surf Life Saving Queensland. She is responsible for lifesaving, surf sports regional operations and membership. She also is responsible for services relating to the volunteers.
Sharing what she has learnt since joining the network back in 2005, Kaitlyn will offer advice on how she manages work/life passions with all the compromises, struggles and challenges that come with it. She will open up about how having a strong, female circle around her has helped her come out the other side with their support and friendship.
Kaitlyn will touch on lifelong learning matters and what it means to invest actively within yourself and not just your employer’s money. She will share how she has learnt to lead herself and others through the unexpected, from GFCs, fire tests, recruitment, loss, floods, COVID-19 etc.
When it comes to your team, Kaitlyn will share how she believes you should empower talent in a fast-paced environment, how volunteers and team members need purpose, a why, and balance of accountability and bravery from their leader to be able to find space, create solutions and deliver.
This is a members-only free event, so why not Wind Down with us, see you online Friday at 4:30pm!
