Membership Auto-Renewal Policy
Sunshine Coast Business Women’s Network (SCBWN)
1. Purpose
This policy outlines the terms and conditions relating to membership renewals, including automatic renewal, cancellation, and refund eligibility for members of the Sunshine Coast Business Women’s Network (“SCBWN”).
2. Automatic Renewal
SCBWN memberships are offered on a recurring subscription basis to ensure continuity of member benefits and services.
All memberships are set to automatically renew by default at the end of each membership term.
By purchasing or renewing a membership, members acknowledge and consent to automatic renewal.
Renewal will be processed using the nominated payment method on file unless updated prior to renewal.
3. Disclosure and Transparency
SCBWN will clearly disclose, at the point of purchase:
that the membership automatically renews
the renewal price
the renewal frequency
how members can opt out or cancel
This information will be presented in a clear, prominent and accessible manner, not hidden in fine print, in accordance with Australian Consumer Law requirements regarding transparency and fair contract terms. [mdlaw.com.au]
4. Renewal Notifications
SCBWN will take reasonable steps to provide at least 30 days’ notice prior to the renewal date.
Renewal notices will include:
the renewal date
the amount to be charged
clear instructions on how to cancel or opt out
Members are responsible for ensuring their contact details are accurate and up to date.
While SCBWN will take reasonable steps to issue reminders, members should manage their own renewal preferences.
5. Opt-Out and Cancellation
Members may opt out of automatic renewal at any time prior to their renewal date.
Cancellation must be completed via:
written notice to SCBWN (e.g., email)
SCBWN will provide a simple, accessible, and timely process for cancellation.
Once cancellation is confirmed:
the membership will remain active until the end of the current paid term
no further renewal charges will be applied
6. Refund Policy
Membership fees are generally non-refundable.
If a membership is renewed unintentionally, members may request a refund within 7 days of the renewal charge.
Refund requests submitted within this period will be assessed and may be approved at SCBWN’s discretion.
Requests made after 7 days will generally not be eligible for a refund.
Important Consumer Rights
Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts, or modifies any rights or remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
Where required by law, SCBWN will provide refunds, replacements, or other remedies in accordance with consumer guarantees. [accc.gov.au]
7. Fair Use and Contract Terms
SCBWN is committed to ensuring that membership terms:
are fair and balanced
do not create a significant imbalance between parties
are reasonably necessary to protect legitimate organisational interests
This policy is designed to comply with laws relating to unfair contract terms under the Australian Consumer Law.
8. Policy Acceptance
By purchasing or renewing a membership, members confirm that they:
have read and understood this policy
agree to the automatic renewal terms
understand how to cancel or opt out
