This award was introduced in 2024 by SCBWN President (2021-24), Min Swan, to recognise a past SCBWN Award winner who has maintained a meaningful connection to the Network and continues to champion the celebration of women’s achievements in business, wherever their journey has taken them.
The award was named in honour of long-standing SCBWN contributor Michelle Hamer recognising her pivotal role in shaping the Network since joining in 1998. This award celebrates Michelle’s enduring impact and acknowledges alumni who, like Michelle, uplift others, drive positive change, and leave a lasting mark on our Sunshine Coast Business Network community.

Since winning the 2007 Professional Business Woman of the Year, Kaitlyn is celebrated for her quiet and never-ending support of women both in business and the wider community.
Kaitlyn has never been far from the Sunshine Coast Business Women’s Network serving as Vice President to Sue Willis and returning to the committee under the Presidency of Roz White and Min Swan.
Notably, Kaitlyn formed the SCBWN Community Portfolio which gives back to so many organisations and individuals in need; and recently was part of the team to implement the new SCBWN constitution.

Michelle Hamer, Inaugural winner

The award celebrated Michelle’s pivotal role in shaping the Network since 1998. Michelle has served as President, Secretary and Awards Judging Chair, and is an enthusiastic supporter and advocate of women in business.
In 2024, Michelle celebrated holding the Judging Chair role 15 times during the 25-year Award History.
Her passion, dedication and precision in delivering deserving Awards Recipients to stage in each of those 15 years, meant there was nobody else that could possibly take home the very first MICHELLE HAMER ALUMNI AWARD.
