International Women’s Day

Tuesday, March 10th | 6:30 am - 8:30 am | USC Stadium

Event bookings close and dietary requirements due - Friday, March 6th.

Our most powerful event of the year is coming up fast and, as 2020 is the start of a new decade, the SCBWN have thrown out the rulebook to organise an International Women’s Day celebration so unique that it won’t be repeated!

Prepare yourself to be immersed in an environment that supports, encourages, grows and nurtures talented, dedicated and driven women to reach their highest potential.  For our 2020 International Women’s Day celebration we will be taking over USC Stadium and collaborating with the highly successful Sunshine Coast Lightning to deliver a morning that will show you that achieving your dreams is within your control!

A complete departure from our usual breakfast, we are ‘over the moon’ excited about this event.  You will hear the remarkable story of leading Sunshine Coast Lightning goal shooter, Peace Proscovia, while enjoying a light breakfast in VIP seating at USC Stadium.

International Women’s Day is a day where we celebrate what it means to be women. It is a global celebration of cultural, social, economic and political achievements of women, while also marking a call to action for stepping up.

This year’s worldwide campaign theme is #EachforEqual – supporting the notion that an equal world is an enabled world and gender, race and age equality is crucial for communities and economies to thrive.

Peace’s story of determination and resilience growing up in Uganda is a prime example of how background and culture does not need to determine one’s chance of a successful future. Her story encompasses this amazing global celebration of International Women’s Day and reminds us why being #EachforEqual is so important to us all.

After hearing Peace’s phenomenal story, we will host a discussion with Sunshine Coast Lightning’s CEO Danielle Smith and Head Coach Kylee Byrne. They will give insight into the business side of netball, the highlights and challenges faced by a start-up organisation, building a team – on and off court - from scratch, and how that has impacted Lightning’s success.

This is an event that you will never forget!  Following event formalities, Sunshine Coast Lightning has invited us all to stay and watch them train at the stadium at 9:00am. This is such a unique invitation and we are privileged to have the team let our members and guests exclusively observe their training session!

Members of SCBWN will become very popular over the coming month as we have decided, for one event only, to offer member-priced tickets to their non-member friends! Members can purchase multiple tickets for the member price*, which means their friends and loved ones can share the buzz of our unforgettable 2020 International Women’s Day.

* Members must purchase all ticket/s for their non-member friend/s through their member portal. For this one-off special arrangement SCBWN is unable to facilitate separate payments, however members are welcome to organise their own reimbursement of tickets of their own accord.

Please ensure you understand our Refund and Cancellation Policy.
