October "Inside Business" Series

Wondering why you don’t have any money in the bank but thought your business was going well?  Or maybe your business is not going so well, and you just can’t work out why? Do you think tax is ruining your business cashflow?  Or maybe you have been pretending you understood finances for so long (but you don’t!) you can’t possibly admit it now!

Bentleys and the SCBWN are offering you an opportunity to increase your financial literacy and truly understand all those things you wanted to know about tax and finance but just didn’t know who to ask.

Cashflows and budgets - 24 October

Cashflows and budgets don’t have to be difficult to create (and then never get used). We’ll show you how to easily set them up, and then ways to use them to understand how your business is performing during the year.

The insight this gives you into your business will help you make financial decisions and know when you need to take action to avoid the stress that a lack of cashflow causes.

Find out all you need to know with our two expert speakers Peta Grenfell and Amanda Arnold.

Peta Grenfell

Peta is a Partner at Bentleys Qld, and the Managing Director of the Bentleys Sunshine Coast office.

She is a CPA with significant experience assisting clients with the proactive management of both their business and taxation matters. While she has worked with clients across a diverse range of industries and issues, she has a particular interest in:

- professional services businesses (including medical and legal professionals);

- the building and construction industry;

- foreign tax;

- superannuation, including SMSF’s;

- small business structuring

Peta has a passion for educating small business owners so they can better understand and manage their own businesses, increasing their chance of success in what can be a challenging small business market.

And while Peta sounds like your typical accountant she had a ‘life’ before tax! After a stint at one of the big four banks, Peta spent time roaming the world working in many different industries and roles helping her understand what makes businesses, staff and owners tick (and how to live on super tight budget!). Returning home, she worked for the ATO before (quickly) realising she wanted to escape the bureaucracy and help small businesses, so they didn’t end up on the wrong side of the ATO in the first place.

A mum to two young boys Peta juggles life as a working businesswoman, helping her genuinely understand the challenges facing women in business every day.

Amanda Arnold

Boring accountant? That’s not how you would describe Amanda! She’s a mum to 3 busy kids, she’s a self-published author, she’s a adventurer and she’s run her own business – all in the disguise of being an accountant!

Originally from Tully in North Queensland, she moved south to pursue her career working in one of the Big 4 accounting practices. She is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has worked with clients across all industries. After 13 years, Amanda took a career break to have children and ended up moving to the Sunshine Coast. Never one to sit still, Amanda self-published and marketed 2 cookbooks in her ‘spare time’. She went on to sell over 3000 copies, which is no mean feat considering her ‘office’ was her kitchen bench! When her kids were old enough, she returned to accounting with Bentleys – and found the perfect balance between career and family life.

Her parents owned a small business for over 30 years and she has a true appreciation for what business owners go through and the challenges they face day to day. All of these experiences truly enable her to develop real connections with her clients as she understands the realities of being in business. Being an advisor and educator to women in business is Amanda's specialty and where her passion lies.

This event is limited and available only for our members.
